How to get from the UNESCO building to the site IHP, ENS, CP (Montagne Ste Geneviève) by Metro ->

The MG12 morning plenary sessions and some of the afternoon parallel sessions, as well as the conference banquet will take place at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in two nearby buildings.

UNESCO to OP and IAP

  • Walk along Lowendal avenue from UNESCO
    to subway station Cambronne (10 minutes).
  • Take subway line 6 in the direction of Nation,
    and get off at station Saint-Jacques (10 minutes).
  • Walk to Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris,
    98bis boulevard Arago (5 minutes).

    One enters the Observatory of Paris from IAP.


The remaining institutes are also reached from the same
Saint-Jacques Metro stop, proceeding across Saint-Jacques Boulevard
to rue Saint-Jacques as above, but continuing north on
rue Saint-Jacques as described below.

UNESCO to ENS

  • Walk along Lowendal avenue from UNESCO
    to subway station Cambronne (10 minutes).
  • Take subway line 6 in the direction of Nation,
    and get off at station Saint-Jacques (10 minutes).
  • Walk* up rue Saint Jacques (same initial direction as IAP)
    and turn right at rue des Ursulines,
    continue on Rue des Ursulines then right at  rue d'Ulm

    (18 minutes).

UNESCO to IHP/AL

  • Start as in the preceding section UNESCO to ENS
    for first 3 steps to rue d'Ulm, but instead
    turn left and then again left at rue Pierre et Marie Curie
    for  IHP/AL (3 minutes extra).

    *NOTE: alternate bus route.
    For those who wish to try the bus north to the ENS/IHP/AL,
    get off one Metro stop earlier (Denfert Rochereau)
    take Bus Number 38 direction Chatelet,
    get off at stop "Val de Grace" and walk as indicated in
    this Google Maps walking route [click here].

OP and IAP to ENS and IHP/AL

  • Walk east to rue Saint-Jacques (see above graphic), turn left
    and follow instructions above from UNESCO to ENS, IHP/AL.
