The Vatican City State is the smallest independent Country in the World, though it still boasts its own postal service, newspaper, radio station and army (the famous Swiss Guards). In spite of its size, the Vatican contains the largest number of masterpieces in the World! Your guide will tell you the story of the architectural development of the site, explaining how the lowly tomb of a humble fisherman - the Apostole Peter - became the world centre of Christianity. Our tour starts with the Vatican Museums, that house an incredible collection of works of art, accumulated by the Popes during the centuries of the Papal Kingdom. Our focus will be the Sistine Chapel, but on the way to it, we will admire amazing roman statues, we'll walk through galleries and rooms, once part of the Pope's private apartments, as the Gallery of Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Maps, the “Raphael Rooms”, painted by the Master and his pupils; and a the end, we'll finally get the Cappella Sistina (Sistine Chapel): inside, you'll have the feeling to be in the centre of the history of italian Art. All around you, frescoes by the most important Renaissance Artists, as Botticelli, Rosselli, Ghirlandaio, Perugino; and, of course, the genius Michelangelo, whose Genesis in the ceiling and the Last Judgment in the Altar Wall are the main attraction.
Inside the Basilica, your attention will be attracted by Bernini’s majestic bronze that stands 29 m high right in the centre, exactly above the main Altar, marking the spot of St. Peter’s sepulchre. Our tour will end in Piazza S. Pietro, Bernini’s masterpiece.

By a pleasant walk, this itinerary will let you discover the most elegant squares of Rome, the breathtaking fountains and the palaces of power.
Our itinerary begins in Piazza del Quirinale which, over the centuries, has in turn been the residence of popes, of the ruling House of Savoy and, since 1946, of the President of the Republic. It is only a short distance walk to The Trevi Fountains. Immortalized in Director Federico Fellini’s Film "la Dolce Vita", the fountain scene has become firmly fixed in the public mind. Conceived as a monumental celebration of the "Acqua Virgine", waters carried to Rome via the aqueduct built by Roman Statesman and General Marcus Agrippa in 19 A.D., this Baroque fountain has been redesigned and restored through the centuries.

14.30: meet your guide at the Fontana dei Dioscuri in Piazza del Quirinale
The tour includes (only from outside) Palazzo del Quirinale, Palazzo della Consulta, Scuderie del Quirinale and Fontana dei Dioscuri. Then Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza Colonna and Palazzo Chigi, Piazza Montecitorio, Palazzo Giustiniani and Palazzo Madama
18.00: tour ends in Piazza Navona, admiring the breathtaking baroque style of Palazzo Pamphili, la chiesa di Sant'Agnese del Borromini andBernini’s Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi.

Final tour Programme will be confirmed in due time.
