Abstract |
The nature of the progenitors of Type Ia supernovae remains a mystery. In this talk I will present the results of binary evolution and population synthesis calculations of Type Ia supernovae, including supernova rates, delay-time distributions, pre-explosion companion stars and early ultraviolet signatures from ejecta-companion interaction. By comparing with current observations, some constraints on progenitor models of Type Ia supernovae from these calculations will be discussed. |
