The MAGIC perspective on research data management and open data in multi-messenger astrophysics
Coauthors | The MAGIC Collaboration
Abstract |
In this phase of transitioning into the multi-messenger era, and while future large and very large instruments are already on the horizon, existing very-high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray facilities are operating with high sensitivity and provide a constant stream of highly valuable scientific data. Observations done now will for years and potentially decades to come be an invaluable part of the treasure of human knowledge. Therefore it is not only a mandatory task at hand to develop sustainable data management and preservation plans for our experiments, but to also prepare for and to actively work towards policies and infrastructures that make research data from VHE telescopes available to the community. In this talk, we will report on present activities in the MAGIC collaboration towards these goals, and give an outlook on future plans. |

Highlights From Present Cherenkov Telescopes
Coauthors | ||||||||
Abstract |
Cherenkov telescope facilities around the globe are operating at very high efficiency and are one of the pillars on which the new era of multi-messenger astrophysics is built. While progress is in parts always driven by development of new and more sensitive experiments, continued operation for a transition period and scientific harvesting of the existing facilities is an indispensable aspect of strategic development for the field. In this talk, recent highlights from leading Cherenkov telescope systems will be presented and discussed. |
