Subject: MG12 Sunday Registration Urged http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12 Dear MG12 participant, We apologize for the lack of information that has been made available to you in this period preceding the meeting next week, but the problems of dealing with a large fraction of late registrations and adjustments to the program have made it difficult. We also appreciate your patience in dealing with eventual problems which surface at the meeting. We strongly urge all participants who are able to do the on-site registration completion picking up conference materials on Sunday between 10-12 and 14:30-19:30 at the Ecole Normale Superieure, 45, rue d’Ulm, 75230 Paris http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/en/conf_location.htm This is because UNESCO has a security screening and only people with the conference badge will be allowed into the two buildings and only a limited number of MG12 participants can be accommodated arriving directly to the main entrance of the main UNESCO building at 7, place de Fontenoy 75352 Paris before having picked up their badges off site on Sunday http://portal.unesco.org/en/ev.php-URL_ID=6427&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECTION=201.html On Monday morning even if you registered on-site Sunday, it is crucial that you be at the main UNESCO building by 8:00 with your MG12 badge to try to get admission for the 9:00 start of the opening ceremonies because a large fraction of 1000 people must pass through tight UNESCO security control. Please bring a passport or proper ID. If you were unable to do on-site registration Sunday, you can register at our desk outside the security check but this should be the exception. This applies to each day of plenary sessions. Come early to pass through security in time for the beginning of each plenary session. If you arrive at later times and later days, you will have to be patient in gaining entrance to the main UNESCO building (Fontenoy) for the plenary sessions where our registration desk can be accessed before the security check. You will always need proper ID to confirm your identity to UNESCO security to gain entrance. The full program (2MB PDF) of plenary and parallel sessions is online under both the plenary and parallel session pages, while the detailed time schedules for each parallel session are on-line in the list of parallel sessions, available by left clicking on the session abbreviation for unbroken sessions, and on A or B or C for split sessions. Please check the locations page below for the location of your talks and how to move between locations which are in 3 different general areas: two UNESCO buildings, then the adjacent IAP and OP are a metro ride away, and then ENS is a healthy walk from these last two institutions, with IHP/AL a few more minutes farther. See the conference location page for instructions. There will be wireless access at UNESCO for access to the detailed time schedule of talks in each parallel session but these will not be printed in the main program. Bring your netbooks and laptops if you have them for the best access to this information, but please print out the program information that pertains to your parallel session talk delivery before you arrive at the meeting. UNESCO sessions will have computers available for attaching memory sticks for projecting talks. Please bring your talks on such devices. The situation for nonUNESCO sessions is not yet resolved, so bringing netbooks or laptops may help should we come up short in providing such devices for every room, although there will be projectors available. Thanks, the usual suspects
