Date: Mon, 26 Sep 2005 09:24:00 -0500 From: Jorge Pullin <pullin@lsu.edu> Subject: NSF grants to attend MG11 X-Archive: conference I will apply for an NSF grant to fund travel of US researchers to the 11th. Marcel Grossman meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia. http://www.icra.it/MG/mg11/ While it will be quite a while before we hear if the grant will be funded, previous history suggests that there is a reasonable chance that some funding will be available. People who wish to apply for these funds should fill out the application form below, and send it (preferrably by email to the address listed below) before November 15th. Note the following: 1) For the purpose of this grant, a "US researcher" is one who generally works in the US. Nationality is not relevant. 2) US carriers, if available, must be used, as requested by the Fly American Act and National Science Foundation rules if one is claiming reimbursement of airfare. 3) The selection of the people to receive travel support will be made by a panel of experienced US scientists (both theorists and experimentalists), based in part on the information on the returned application forms. Preference will be given to those with NSF grants and those with no federal research support. We will announce results after December 1st, but final confirmation of availability of funds is not expected till mid March (in an informal way) and even later formally. Please disseminate this information to your colleagues.
